The position

Help build and maintain our governance and compliance framework

Help build and maintain our governance and compliance framework

As our new Governance & Compliance officer your primary focus will be building and maintaining our governance framework while balancing best-in-class standards with high levels of fit-for-purpose and transparency, and becoming a trusted in-house advisor on all compliance matters relating to FinTech.

This will include:

  • Building, writing and maintaining governance policies, standards and controls
  • Risk management and advice to the business about FinTech regulation and compliance
  • Keeping yourself constantly updated on relevant regulation and changes
  • Cooperating with external providers of compliance services and software
  • Planning and conducting relevant in-house training
  • Participating in meetings and workshops with Cardlay partners and coordinating compliance input with colleagues from IT security, product team, marketing, and customer success
  • Planning and assisting compliance and security audits, and vendor assessments
  • Drafting and reviewing contractual obligations relating to compliance


We are looking for someone with a financial or legal background who has relevant experience working with compliance, preferably within FinTech or the financial sector.

You are diligent and down-to-the-detail in your areas of expertise while meticulous in communicating clearly and precisely in all formats to multi-level audiences.

Joining a scale-up business, you have to thrive with ongoing transformation affecting your every-day work and be happy lending a helping hand to your colleagues in other related parts of the business.

When supporting innovative products and services you are expected to facilitate the business with practical, and efficient advice based on a solid understanding of all relevant risks and regulations.

It is a must that you:

  • Hold a degree in law, finance or similar with some years of post-qualification experience
  • Have extensive experience with governance & compliance, ideally from FinTech or other parts of the financial sector
  • Have in-depth knowledge of FinTech relevant regulation and requirements such as PSD2, AML, KYC/KYB, Fraud, GDPR
  • Have experience with legal writing/written communication of complex compliance matters in clear, accessible language
  • Have excellent English language skills both orally and in writing

It would also be great if you:

  • Have experience working in IT,FinTech, card programs and/or payments
  • Have experience with and interest for IT security standards and processes such as PCI DSS, ISO, and SOC
  • Have experience with and interest for GDPR and data protection in an international set-up
  • Experience working with external cloud compliance tools such as RISMA, Comply Cloud, e-KYC etc.
  • Are interested in finding innovative ways of clarifying, optimizing and automating governance and control processes and requirements
